The second LWJ Hewitt Memorial Golf Tournament was held at Waitematā Golf Club on Wednesday 1 November, a beautiful day perfect for the 124 golfers who turned up to show their support of the event. This annual golf day is in remembrance of Laurie Hewitt who passed away while playing at the course in November 2021. The players all had a great day with lots of laughs and memories of Laurie being shared. The winning team on the day was Matt Hayward, Campbell Johnson, William MacFarlane and Matt Shaw who defended their team's title from last year, and the trophy was handed out at the evening's prize giving ceremony to Juliette Doddrell who took out the day with 46 points. Supported generously by platinum sponsors Lexus, Sawmill Brewery, Te Motu wines, Well Hung Artisan Butchery, New World Newmarket and Tommy Gun’s Original Barbershop, fundraising on the day raised upwards of $20,000 and was donated to the Laurie Hewitt Memorial Trust. The trustees will distribute these funds in early 2024 to local North Shore worthwhile causes.
